During the 70's and 80's, Arthur Shawcross, a murderer responsible for at least 12 murders and numerous crimes across New York State, terrorized the State and later Monroe County. One of the victims that he was eventually sentenced for killing was left in Wayne County. Coincidentally, one of the officers who was instrumental in bringing Shawcross to justice was none other than Patrolman Robert Burns of the Rochester Police Department who's father had been Sheriff of Wayne County. Shawcross eventually died in prison. | ||
