Don Fletcher worked his way up to
Sergeant of the Road Patrol and worked much of his career on the
Midnight to 8AM shift. One of the original members of the
Sheriff's Scuba Squad and PR 24 instructors, Don was part of the era
when the Sheriff's Office was expanding and making the transition to
a modern day law enforcement agency. Officers did not know
where they would be working when they came to work. Would they
be inside covering the jail or would they be on the road? He
was well respected by his men. Transferring to Corrections, Don
finally retired as a Sergeant in the Jail. Retirement has not
found him sitting around watching the flowers grow, Don ran for
election and became the Arcadia Town Justice, a position he held for
many years before finally deciding to head to warmer climates in the winter.
