Booking Sheet 1911

An example of a booking sheet using the "Bertillion Identification System".  This system identified people by measuring portions of their body such as the length of fingers or width of nose and shape of ears and correlating them to other identifying marks such as scars, tattoos, and unique deformities.  The present method of identifying people by fingerprints did not come into practice until later in the 20th century.
